De installatie van Windows als literair genre

Dat de wereld eigenlijk aan Linux zou moeten wil ik hier even buiten beschouwing laten. Ware linuxadepten vertellen overal op het web wat er mis is met Windows. Maar dat nu iemand een nieuw literair genre (the tale of godawful Windows-installation woes) heeft uitgevonden dat, zoals de titel al zegt, is gebaseerd op de installatie van Windows, vind ik erg geestig:
I. Exordium. The narrator introduces himself, establishes his experience in computing (ethos) and exhorts the listeners to gather round.
II. Prolegomenon. Customarily, the hardware spec of the machine is outlined here.
III. Praeinstallatio. The narrator describes his initial attempt to install Windows.
IV. Contrainstallatio. The installation goes wrong.
V. Descendo. The narrator describes his increasingly desperate attempts to get things to go right.
VI. Depilatio. The narrator is reduced to despair and frustration.
VII. Inertio. The narrator sinks into a horrified stupor as his machine gurgles and clunks to itself for anything up to three days.
VIII. Peroratio. The narrator rises into fury as he describes how long and painful an experience the install was;
which may be followed by
IX. Aptenodytes forsteri, the narrator switches to Linux.

Tja, geen gymnasium gehad. Soms toch wel jammer…

Laat ik nu net een laptop aan het reanimeren zijn met xp. Wat een hel, installatie 50 minuten, service packs drie kwartier. drivers opsnorren, virusscanner installeren, en dan moet er nog een office programma op en wat meer software zut. Daarna begint het makkelijke werk. Linux in "dual boot" erbij, drivers standaard ingebakken (hoewel niet altijd voor exotiche hardware), geen virusscanner en standaard firefox, openoffice en in een fractie van de tijd voor windows klaar.

@Arda: je komt al een heel eind door de woordjes een beetje los te laten op Google. Het zijn lang niet altijd bestaande woorden, meer varianten op. Ik heb ook maar een jaartje Latijn gehad en weet iets over de basis, maar voor de rest pluk ik ook maar wat…alleen maar omdat ik het altijd zo leuk vind.
@Remco: ik moet altijd aan jou denken bij dit thema. En terecht 🙂
